Open Auditions
For this year’s open auditions we are only meeting actors based in Cumbria, and we’re happy to see folks we’ve seen at open auditions before. We’re also offering auditions to those actors who applied, but we were not able to see last year due to the volume of applications (you will have been contacted direct if you fall into this category).
These auditions are not for a specific production but are designed to widen our knowledge of Cumbrian actors who we might work with in the future. In light of our location and the time/expense of travelling to the theatre, we’re happy to be able to offer the option of auditions both in person at Theatre by the Lake, or via Teams.
This opportunity is for professional actors (those who have trained and/or have at least one professional credit) and who are Cumbrian-based. We seek to cast performers who are representative of the world around us, and welcome applications for these meetings from people of the global majority, LGBTQI+, and those who identify as d/Deaf, neurodiverse, or living with a disability. In the past, we have limited this to actors who have not yet attended an open audition, however, this time we’d love to extend this to those who we have seen at open auditions before.
At these informal open auditions, actors will be asked to prepare a short (a maximum of 3 minutes) monologue of their choice, before having a chat with Liz and Mark.
Please send your CV/Spotlight link, a brief paragraph about yourself, and your availability on February 20 & 21 along with your preference of a remote (Teams) or in-person audition to our Assistant Producer, Claire Dunk at claire.dunk@theatrebythelake.com.
Please note that our open auditions are very popular and we often get more applications than we have slots available, so unfortunately we may not be able to offer a meeting to every applicant.
