Why is the Friends scheme changing?
Previously, Friends of Theatre by the Lake was run by an external charity in support of Theatre by the Lake. In the last few years the Friends of TBTL’s committee put it out to ballot members to ascertain whether they were in agreement that the Friends membership should be run by the theatre. The vast majority of members agreed and therefore the Friends began transferring the membership administration to the theatre from April 2021.
What changes are being made to the Friends Membership?
Theatre by the Lake has put together a new proposal for membership which has been built on the strong foundations of the Friends of TBTL. We would like to sincerely thank the Committee of the Friends for their support during this transition period.
The new membership scheme has four levels: Friends, Best Friends, Benefactors and Champions – giving you, as Members, greater choice in how you support TBTL and the benefits that you receive.

What is happening to my membership now?
If you are an existing Friend, we have automatically upgraded your membership to a ‘Best Friend’ membership in thanks and recognition of your support, particularly at this challenging time. This enhanced membership gives you increased benefits for the remainder of your Friends membership AND we’re extending your term by one month from your renewal date, free of charge.
Do I need to do anything?
No, you don’t need to do anything else. You can priority book and access greater benefits on Season Tickets automatically. You can either book online or with our Box Office. Please remember our website will not allow you to book for shows during priority booking periods until you log in, so please log in first before trying to book.
I'm a Joint Friend - what happens to my Joint Membership?
In the past you have been required to purchase a Joint Membership to receive benefits for two people of the same household. However, going forward you will only need one membership for two people in a household! Whilst the membership will be held against one person’s account as the primary contact for the membership, both people can benefit from the membership perks
What do I do if i want to increase my support by purchasing a higher package membership?
No problem, please contact our Box Office on 017687 74411 who will be more than happy to take you through this process.
How do I Priority Book?
If you are an existing friend then you should be able to priority book for our new season from 9.30am on 17 January. Please remember that you must log in to your online account first before the website will allow you to book any tickets during this time.
