Making Theatre: The Moonlighters Collective
Wed 30 October | 7pmLed by Amy and Hannah (The Moonlighters Collective), this physical-theatre and movement-based workshop plays with making a show from scratch. Inspired by our show Ophelia, we’ll explore mental health, living rurally and being a young person today.
No prior experience needed, just enthusiasm!
The Moonlighters Collective are a female-led theatre company, originally from Cumbria, working across the UK. Their work is feminist, socially relevant and often relates to our Cumbrian roots. They strongly believe in the power of theatre to provoke discussion around difficult subject matters and are passionate about reimagining classical texts for a contemporary audience. Their latest project, Ophelia is a one-woman play, interweaves Shakespeare and Cumbrian folklore, exploring teenage mental health and the experience of growing up rurally.
The company is led by co-artistic directors Hannah Roze-Lewis and Amy Allenby. Both from Cumbria, they have been working together for several years with a shared interest in political and feminist theatre and elevating the voices of northern artists, women, LGBTQ+ creatives, and working-class creatives.
