Mike Thornton: Mr Cornish and Mr Lowry – A Tale of Two Artists

An illustrated presentation from Mike Thornton, Norman Cornish’s son-in-law, on the works of Norman Cornish and L.S. Lowry, as featured in the recent exhibition at The Bowes Museum ( July ’24 – January ’25).  The talk will place a selection of their work in the context of their lives and times, revealing interesting and unusual aspects and going beyond the popular understanding and misconceptions associated with their work.
