Theatre by the Lake produces and presents nationally acclaimed theatre, made with passion, for everyone living in and visiting Cumbria, and we create vital opportunities for Cumbrian artists, young people and communities to come together, be inspired and explore their creativity. 

We believe that theatre has the power to transform lives, but we can only continue to do this with your support.  

Did you know we’re a charity? Our theatre wouldn’t exist without the passionate supporters that banded together to raise funds for the permanent Theatre by the Lake building that we know today.

As we celebrate our 25th birthday, we’re asking our amazing audiences, members, donors, partners, and local community to Play a Part in securing the next 25 years of TBTL.

Donations over £25 will be recognised on a piece of public art commissioned from a local artist and unveiled summer 2025. 

£25 enables somebody from a disadvantaged background to experience the joy of live theatre, here in Cumbria, for the first time

£250 supports a young person for a full term of our young company

£2,500 funds our annual scratch night, where Cumbrian artists can perform new work
