EBT+ What’s your Every Brilliant Thing?

EBT+ What’s your Every Brilliant Thing?

EBT+Plus celebrates all the brilliant things in the world, both at the theatre and online.

We have some extra special activities happening before and after the show and we’d love you to join us, scroll down for social media updates, post-show event details and to see the list of Brilliant Things as it grows with your contributions.

Every Brilliant Thing is a story about suicide and depression and this may start conversations, bring up more questions than answers and in reality be very upsetting for most of us. Every year 200,000 people attempt to take their lives, and every suicide affects, on average, 135 people. That means the chances are you will have experienced or been affected by suicide or depression in some way.  We’ve reached out to key organisations and individuals in our community to bring some of their skills and insights on how to manage both suicide bereavement and prevention in our own lives.

We’d also love to know what YOUR every brilliant thing worth living for is? If you want to share them with us, you can, let’s spread a bit of joy…

  • Head to our social media channels and comment on one of our posts
  • Create your own post on social media and tag us in @tbtlake and use #everybrilliantthing
  • Pop into the theatre and fill out one of our postcards and post it in the boxes provided
  • or send us an email to enews@theatrebythelake.com and we’ll add them for you

Helena Antoniou plays Dr Whatsapp, Dr Wotsit, Dr What-his-name... Dr John Watson and a yokel in The Hound of the Baskervilles, we asked her a few questions about ribbon twirling, guns with torches and her favourite post-show snack... here's what she said!

What made you decide to get ...into acting and theatre? "My mother and my theatrical Greek Cypriot father (he was a barber that forced a performance on anyone in his barbers chair). I was INCREDIBLY shy but somehow put that to the side to pretend to be other people."

What do you love about doing comedy? "Utter commitment in observing life and highlighting the most absurd parts of it to connect with a bunch of strangers - that is pretty cool."

Do you have a favourite line in The Hound of the Baskervilles? "A moose with beef cheeks - how does that even work?"

How many costume changes do you have? "2 - tehe. "

Do you have a favourite character that you play in Hound? "My time as Yokel 1 is wonderful (and brief) - but its gotta be Watson."

What’s your favourite pre or post-show snack or meal? "Jacket Tatty from the cafe and peking duck seaweed crisps!"

*Up NEXT, Katy Daghorn and Dave Hearn*

Behind the Scenes of The Hound of the Baskervilles... *spoiler alert*

When Fi Russell, Set and Costume Designer for The Hound of the Baskervilles, was planning the outfits for all the actors, she asked each of them to supply a photo of themselves. Katy Daghorn's photo was with her ...arms outstretched, a big smile and with a head tilt... so Fi drew her like this for every outfit. BUT that's not all, they decided to include this pose into the train sequence and now everyone does it!
