Community Choir Call Out for Members for New Play, Steel

TBTL will present Steel by Lee Mattinson, a brand-new play which will be performed in the TBTL Studio before embarking on a tour of the West Coast of Cumbria in October 2024. The show will feature a choir made up of local voices, who will work with a composer to co-create an original song inspired by the West Coast of Cumbria.

The Choir will rehearse at The Carnegie in Workington from July to September before recording the piece that will feature in the finale of the show. They will then perform the song live at Theatre by the Lake’s 25th Birthday Party (date TBC), and for two special performances at the Carnegie (2 and 3 November).

We are looking for people who enjoy singing, are interested in meeting new people and doing something different! You will need to be interested in exploring the identity of Workington, its steel heritage and life on the West Coast today, in order to co-create the song with the composer (Mark Melville) and the playwright (Lee Mattinson).

Rehearsals will take place on Wednesday evenings from the 3 July to 25 September.

You can register your interest by contacting Claire Williams at Claire.Williams@theatrebythelake.com

Please note the show contains LGBTQIA+ themes.
